Welcome to the start of another great school year at Phillips Elementary.
The Phillips PTA is looking forward to providing enjoyable and enriching programs and activities for the students and families.

Here are some key things to remember as you prepare for school:

School start and end times

School starts at 7:45am and ends at 2:55pm.

Make sure to read through the Phillips Elementary 2017-2018 Arrival and Dismissal Procedures and follow the traffic flow map.

Kindergarteners – Meet the Parent

If you are a kindergarten parent, be sure to come to Meet the Parents Night on Thursday, August 17 at 6pm to get a good head start.

Meet the Teachers

Meet the Teacher Night is Friday, August 18th, in your respective classrooms.
Grades K-2 start at 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Grades 3-5 start at 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Tears & Cheers breakfast for kindergarten parents

Join us in the library on 21st August between 8am and 9am for our Tears and Cheers breakfast. Have a bite, get some coffee and meet other Kindergarten parents and PTA members.

Last Day of 2016-17 School Year

Parents! We’ve come to the end of the 2016-17 school year at Phillips. And what a year it has been! Just taking a look at the calendar will show you how busy we’ve been.

Here are some reminders for the last day of school:

  • Celebration of Learning for 3rd – 5th Grade starts Friday at 8am.
  • End-of-year class parties for Kindergarten – 4th Grade are staggered between 12 and 2:15pm. Check your student’s time slot for details.
  • Be sure to check the Lost & Found for any remaining items — all leftovers will be donated to charity on Friday!
  • It’s also the last day to order a yearbook! Leave a check with the Phillips office or pay online at
  • Want to get a head start on next school year and avoid school supply shopping in July? Order school supplies online for next year at! Use Account Code 66532. Deadline is June 9.
  • The Phillips PTA is proud to announce that we have almost all of our Board and Committee Chair positions filled for next year! There are still some spots open and plenty of opportunities to give of your time and talent to the benefit of our students. Watch this space for more details through the summer.

Catch Them All! End-of-Year Events at Phillips

Parents and students! Just eight more days of school left, but there are still a lot of exciting things to get through before June 2. Check out what’s going on and where to be on our calendar!

  • Get some weekend power! FISD is hosting the final Student and Parent Empowerment session about Wellness 365 on Saturday morning. (Be sure to RSVP!) or watch the Phillips choir sing the National Anthem to kick off an exciting FC Dallas soccer game Saturday night!
  • Next week is our final Book Fair of the year — and it’s Buy One Get One free! Check it out during the day May 23 – 24, with extended hours on May 25.
  • Are you ready to be entertained? Come to the 5th Grade Talent Show on May 23 and then come back again for the last PTA meeting and choir performance on May 24!
  • NO SCHOOL May 25 and May 29. Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Another Fun and Busy Week at Phillips!

Parents and students! We are looking forward to another busy and fun week at Phillips!

  • STAAR testing and re-testing for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades is going on this week. Remember, no visitors are allowed, and please arrange personal appointments for another week.
  • Join us Wednesday for two fun, active events: Bike/Walk to School Day in the morning and the Bike and Health Fair at 5:30pm in the cafeteria. Have your bike checked out and learn about healthy lifestyles from a variety of vendors.
  • Our own Frisco Family Services will be the beneficiary of a Supply Drive from Phillips! Check the list of needed items and bring them to the school this week.
  • Take a moment to show your gratitude to our school nurse Dmitri Dalton during National Nurses Week and National School Nurse Day on Wednesday.
  • Chalk Day is this Friday during Specials! Mrs. Christie, our art teacher, still needs baby wipes for the event. Parents can also come help!
  • 5th grade parents: Just a reminder that money is due for the Urban Air field trip by Friday, May 12.

It’s May! Time for Appreciation and Fun!

Parents and students! We have a lot of activities going on in the month of May, so here’s your weekly update for May 1 – 5:

  • It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, so check out the schedule of events and your teacher’s favorites. Show them how much they mean to you!
  • Monday, May 1 is an extra special day for Principal Dana Solomon and Assistant Principal Kim Frankson: it’s School Principal Appreciation Day. Be sure to say and thanks!
  • Why not celebrate your teachers and yourselves with a treat at Nothing Bundt Cakes for Spirit Week! At least 20% of the proceeds from purchases during the week go back to Phillips.
  • Our very own author and Phillips dad David Head will be visiting Kindergarteners and 1st Graders for a special author visit and book signing!
  • Kindergarten students are also taking a special visit to Frisco Fire Safety Town for a field trip.
  • Calling all talented 5th Graders! If you want to be in the Talent Show later this month, auditions are being held this week!
  • To continue the appreciation, all students will participate in Diverse Abilities Day during Specials mid-week.
  • Don’t forget regular meetings like Art Club and Student Council!
