It’s May! Time for Appreciation and Fun!

Parents and students! We have a lot of activities going on in the month of May, so here’s your weekly update for May 1 – 5:

  • It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, so check out the schedule of events and your teacher’s favorites. Show them how much they mean to you!
  • Monday, May 1 is an extra special day for Principal Dana Solomon and Assistant Principal Kim Frankson: it’s School Principal Appreciation Day. Be sure to say and thanks!
  • Why not celebrate your teachers and yourselves with a treat at Nothing Bundt Cakes for Spirit Week! At least 20% of the proceeds from purchases during the week go back to Phillips.
  • Our very own author and Phillips dad David Head will be visiting Kindergarteners and 1st Graders for a special author visit and book signing!
  • Kindergarten students are also taking a special visit to Frisco Fire Safety Town for a field trip.
  • Calling all talented 5th Graders! If you want to be in the Talent Show later this month, auditions are being held this week!
  • To continue the appreciation, all students will participate in Diverse Abilities Day during Specials mid-week.
  • Don’t forget regular meetings like Art Club and Student Council!

PTA meeting this week

Join us this Thursday, April 20 at 6:30pm for a quick PTA general meeting, followed by a special outdoor performance by 4th grade students. Meet outside in the back parking lot, and don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket!

  • Thursday, April 20 and Friday, April 21, 8am = Celebration of Learning: Be sure to register early to avoid the line — see links in the calendar.
  • Saturday, April 22, 9 – 10:30am = Clean It & Green It: Get outside for Earth Day! You can still sign up and get a free t-shirt.
  • Monday, April 24 = NO SCHOOL
  • Thursday, April 27 = Open House: Look for more details to come!
  • Friday, April 28, 9am – 2pm = Field Day: We still need more volunteers and water donations — come help out and have some fun in the sun!
  • Saturday, April 29, 12 – 6pm = Community Vendor and Resource Fair, sponsored by Frisco Council of PTAs

School supplies for 2017-18

Yes, there are already things happening for NEXT school year. Order your school supplies now through June 9! You get a full box of all the required supplies without having to fight the crowds.

Would you like to have an impact on what happens at your child’s school? Want to use your skills for positive change? Book your spot now for the 2017-18 Parent Teacher Association. Check out the opportunities available and let us know what you’re interested in doing. Volunteer positions range from one time a year to a few hours a month to ongoing. We’d love to see you around!


Come for Fun and Learning at Multicultural Night March 23!

Come join us for an important PTA meeting, where we will announce the Executive Board for next year’s PTA, followed by Multicultural Night. From cultural wear to food, photos with your friends and dancing, you will experience a microcosm of the globe at Phillips Elementary. Everything starts at 6:30pm! Click here for more information.

TONIGHT: Important PTA Meeting + Science Night

Parents! Be sure to come to the PTA general meeting tonight at 6pm in the Phillips cafeteria. We will be putting together a Nominating Committee for next year’s Board, so we need you to be there to vote! Yes, it’s already time to gather volunteers for the 2017-18 PTA Board — there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved (or at least nominate your friends).

Students! Get your parents to stay with you after the meeting for Science Night! Who knows what kind of mad scientist concoctions you will make.

Parents and students! This week at Phillips Elementary is our Happy Camper Book Fair. The spring Scholastic Book Fair is intended to motivate students to read more.

If you are a PTA member, consider joining our volunteer group to help conduct our school’s best reading event!

Join us if you:

  • Like to organize and put things in place
  • Want to help shoppers of all ages find the perfect book
  • Enjoy offering a helping hand with packing up
